Let’s hope the luck of the Irish will shine on the Colombo Club Auxiliary activities for the rest of 2022. I was looking forward to the aroma of corned beef and cabbage coming from the CC dinning room, but it looks like it will be coming from our own kitchens. Our board will meet soon to discuss alternate activities that hopefully will keep us relatively safe.
The sun is beginning to shine brighter, and spring flowers are showing signs of blooming. Let’s take this as a sign of new social life for all us.
When we do plan a dinner event, we need a great support from our members. Remember we have an Italian social club that has a mission statement to raise funds for our chosen charities. The main source of funds for our charities is the proceeds from our incentive gift raffles that we have at our dinners. With food, labor and overhead costs rising at least 25%, we must have great attendance to cover our costs and the incentive sales provide funds for our charities. The dinners are a fantastic value with all that is provided, and we must support them.
We are still aiming for a spring polenta dinner with all the fun Italian games. This is a great event to begin our 2022 activities. Sure do miss seeing all of you, so let’s all gather together as a big, loud Italian family. Cross our fingers and hope we will be reporting a successful event soon.
