As we are sure that you are already aware, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the fast-spreading new variant cases have been increasing daily in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
For the health and safety of all our members, the Board of Directors of the Colombo Club has made the difficult decision to again cancel all Colombo Club events and to postpone our 100th Anniversary Celebrations.
While we know that this is disappointing, we hope you understand that we are taking these steps to keep our staff and attendees safe.
Although we project that the club will be closed through November of this year, our Board of Directors will be revisiting this decision at each of our monthly Board meetings.
At this point, it is our plan to hold an anniversary celebration on Saturday, December 4, 2021. At that time, we are planning to celebrate not only our 100th plus one Anniversary, but also the 70th anniversary of the opening of the Colombo Club building on Claremont Avenue in December 1951.
There will only be one anniversary dinner in December. If you have purchased reservations for one or both of the anniversary celebrations, you have the choice of requesting a refund or of forwarding your current reservations to the December event. If you have reservations for both August anniversary dinners and want to attend the December dinner and want a refund for the other dinner, we will send you a refund check for the second dinner.
If you have any questions or concerns about dinner reservations, please get in touch with: John Mazibrook – jtmazibrook@earthlink.net
At this point, the December dinner with those who have already made reservations will be sold out if all members who currently have reservations choose to forward them.
Thank you for your understanding during these unprecedented times. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused and look forward to once again gathering with you at the Club.
