July proved to be a great month for the Colombo Club. The Bocce Tournament in Martinez was fantastic and very well attended. No one walked away unhappy. The weather and the friendships created a perfect balance. Thank you Dave and John Nardi for always putting on a great event. Grazie Dave e John Nardi per aver sempre organizzato un grande evento.
The 67th annual golf tournament at the beautiful Sequoia Country Club also was in July with the same outcome. A sold-out compliment of 144 golfers enjoyed beautiful weather and great food at the Club afterwards. I have to thank Nick Nicora Jr for taking control of the tournament and stepping it up in a big way. Devo ringraziare Nick Nicora Jr per aver preso il controllo del torneo e averlo intensificato in grande stile.
The Past Presidents’ Dinner was again a wonderful event. Past president Doug Emeldi passed away this month and was remembered at this event. Doug’s family, Monica, Gina, and Mark (our Club’s Sergeant at Arms) were there to represent Doug. It was a quiet moment that tugged on our hearts. The Club will greatly miss Doug Emeldi. Al Club mancherà molto Doug Emeldi.
August brings to the Club Father Daughter Nights. This was always a favorite for my father as he never had a daughter, but he was able to take his beautiful daughters-in-law. I am looking forward to bringing my daughter and granddaughter for a great evening at the Club.
The past father-daughter dinners have been very well attended so make sure you get your reservations early.
As you have read above the Club is doing what the Club is supposed to do. Having family events and bringing the Colombo Club family together. The Club is in full swing, and I hope you take the time to join us. We are working, and have worked, very hard to make the Club what it is. As a member you have the ability to share and create many memories for your family and friends. As we all know we are only here for a short time, so let’s make the best of it. What better way than spending time at the Colombo Club events.
Come tutti sappiamo, siamo qui solo per un breve periodo, quindi cerchiamo di trarne il meglio. E quale modo migliore che trascorrere del tempo al Colombo Club Events. If you want to get involved, there are several committees that could use your participation. The best way to find out about these committees is to attend a board meeting. They are held every first Tuesday of the month starting at 6:30 pm. If you would like to run for a Club office, you can write to Billy Castell and drop it off at the Club. It is a wonderful experience working to keep this Club at the level that our founding fathers would appreciate. The deadline for submitting your name for an office is September 1.
The past year we have lost a few members from passing and moving away from the Bay Area. This leaves a few spots open for new members. If you have someone you would like to introduce to the Club now is the time for them to apply for membership. For more information about this email Rich Puppione, email@example.com.
